Genesis and Exodus are the first two books of the Bible and are the first two of five books which constitute the Torah. Genesis begins with the creation narrative and teaches that God is the one who made everything that exists. This book also teaches about God’s calling of Abraham and how all the nations of the earth would be blessed through his offspring. The Book of Exodus tells of the bondage of God’s chosen people – Israel – in Egypt and how God, through his servant Moses, frees them from this bondage.
